1982年にニチモから突然発売された1/300の米海軍機シリーズ。

１箱２機種入りで100円でした。

このシリーズはNo.19から始まっていますが、ニチモはその前に「大空のサムライ」シリーズとして1/300旧日本海軍機を18種類展開していました。このシリーズはその続きというわけです。

安価にたくさん集められそうなので、当時中学１年だった私は飛びつきましたが、子供にはなかなかキツい大きさでした。高校生の頃までに数箱づつ買い集めてすべて作りました。自分の好きな部隊マークを手描きして楽しみました。

大学生になるとプラモから離れましたが、その後10数年たち30歳になる頃にまたプラモ趣味に出戻りました。部屋の棚に昔作ったこの極小ヒコーキを並べたところヒジョーに楽しく、また増やして並べることにしました。当然絶版ですから、そのころ出現したyahooオークションや中古店で見つけるたびに買い占めて、一生楽しめるくらいの在庫を築きました。現在はこの在庫を崩しながら新作をチョイチョイ増やしています。

1/300でこれらの機種は他にありません。1/200ですとダイキャストの塗装済の素晴らしいものが手に入りますが・・1/350は別途紹介するものが、タミヤやトランぺッターからたくさん出ていますが、単品で楽しむにはいかんせん小さく、この1/300というスケールはなかなか秀逸と思います。

マーキングバリエーションを幅広く揃えるには、手描きマーキングと別売デカールを駆使するしかありません。なんせ小さいので、筆で塗るしかありません。従いまして、写真で単品あたりを拡大して見ますと粗が隠せずお恥ずかしい。でも現物を裸眼で見る分にはまったく問題ありませんのでこれで良しとしています。

全体的に見ますと、小さいながらディテール再現やデカール再現、アクセサリーも充実していて大変よく出来ています。ところが1機種づつ見ますと、それぞれに細かな問題点が存在します。細かいといいながらその機種の印象に大きく関わる部分ばかりなので修正します（機種毎の個別ページで解説しています）が、なんせ小さいですからとても簡単です。

製作の方向性として、キャノピーはメタルカラーのアイアンで磨き表現。インテークやノズルは開口せずフラットブラックで塗りつぶし、機体のアンテナ類や脚カバーはプラペーパーで極力再現しています。

The 1/300 US Navy series which was suddenly released from Nichimo in 1982.
It was 100 yen with 2 models in 1 box.
This series started from No.19, but before that Nichimo deployed 18 kinds of 1/300 former Japanese Navy aircraft as the "Samurai of the Sky" series. This series is the continuation.

I seemed to be gathering lots at a cheap price, so I flew back to my first year junior high school, but it was quite difficult for kids. I bought a few boxes by high school students and made it all. I enjoyed hand-painted my favorite unit mark.

When I became a college student, I left the Plamo, but then returned to Plamo hobby again about 10 years later when I was 30 years old. When displaying this extremely small planes made long ago on the shelf of the room, I decided to arrange and enjoy it more and more. Since it is inevitably out from market, I built up stocks that can be enjoyed for the rest of the year, whenever we find it in the yahoo auction or second - hand store that appeared. Currently this stock is breaking while increasing the number of new works.
 

here are no other models in 1/300. If it is 1/200, you get a wonderful prepainted die-cast models .... Although 1/350 has a lot to be introduced separately from Tamiya and Trumpeter, it is very small to enjoy with single item I think the scale of 1/300 is quite excellent.

To make a wide range of marking variations, there is no other choice than to use hand-painted marking and separately sold decals. Because it is so small, there is only painting with a brush. Therefore, if you look at the single item enlarged in the photograph, it is embarrassing that you can not hide coarse. But it seems to be okay with this as there is no problem at all for seeing the actual thing with the naked eye.
 

Overall, as it is small, detail reproduction, decal reproduction, accessories are also fulfilling very well. However, if you look at each model one by one, there are minor problems. It is only part related to the impression of that model, I corrects it (it is described on the individual page for each model), but it is very small so it is very easy.

As a direction of building, the canopy is refined with a Mr.metal color iron. The intake and nozzle are not opened and painted with flat black, and the antennas and leg covers are reproduced as much as possible with the plastic paper.
